Purnia

The city of Purnia came into existence in the year 1770 by the East India Company. It is situated on the banks of Mahananda and Kosi River. It is the 4th largest city of Bihar with a population of 310,817 and agriculture is the prime livelihood of the people. In this small city the Indian air force, SSB, Indian army and also the border security force have their offices. The city is also named as “mini Darjeeling” due to its amazing weather conditions. Starting from the English medium schools to law colleges, you can have almost all the education facilities here that a metropolitan city of India has to offer. The Zilla School Purnia which is established in the year 1800 is one of the oldest education institutions in Purnia and Bihar also.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is also another coveted educational institution located in Purnia. With the increasing demand of the English medium schools now you can find various popular schools in Purnia. Vidya Vihar Residential School at Parora, B.B.M. High School, Millia Convent English Medium School, Don Bosco School, Mount Zion Mission School, D.A.V. Public School, and St. John's High School etc are worth mentioning. This small town of Bihar also known as the home of three medical colleges namely Government Medical College and Hospital, Shershah Institute of Medical Sciences, Medical College and Hospital by Millia Educational Trust.

Araria  

A forested area long ago is today referred as a place of cultural confluence and is one of the districts of Purnia division the city of Purnia has located just 300 km away from Patna and is labeled as the goldmine of artists. People often come to Araria to experience the celestial and majestic view of mountain Kanchenjunga, the very famous peak of the Himalayan range. This district has several rivers like Kosi, Kali, Parmar, Suwara, and Koli. Cultivation is the main occupation of the residents. There are proofs to believe that this place was once an important place for the Maurya and Gupta from the writings of Huen-Tsang and Asokavadana. Though this place was a stronghold for various dynasties but still this place lacks in an education facility. This place has a fewer quality education facilities than places like Purnia. The scenario is fast changing and now colleges like CKM Law College, Moti Babu Institute of Technology and various private schools opening their doors for the inhabitants of Araria.
